Please see below for the COVID-19 Policy that Brook House has used during the past few years.  We will continue to use any parts of the policy that are needed to comply with new Government guidance or to comply with our general hygiene and health and safety standards.  Please advise if you need us to implement any of the procedures for your specific needs.

Brook House B&B – COVID-19 Policy

Liz & Graham worked hard to get COVID ready for the 4th July 2020 opening and continue to do this in 2022.  We want to make sure that everyone can be safe, comfortable and have some relaxation and fun at Brook House 🙂

Liz & Graham have successfully achieved the Visit England We’re Good To Go Accreditation.  For info – For the foreseeable future we are only letting some of our rooms and we are leaving a break of 24 hours between occupancy of some rooms to give us time to deep clean safely and reassure our guests.  We will also be ventilating all rooms regularly.

Arrival at Brook House

We will send you an email prior to arrival with welcome information and we will ask you to give us an approximate arrival time.  If guests arrive simultaneously we would ask that you practice social distancing.  We will ask you to provide us with contact details for everyone in your party eg mobile number/email address for track and trace purposes.  We will keep this information for a maximum of 21 days and dispose of it securely.  Most importantly we’ll ask you to choose a time slot for our lovely home cooked breakfast 🙂

Liz or Graham will continue to welcome you using some social distancing and wearing gloves/masks as required 🙂  Please follow latest government guidance about wearing of masks in the B&B.

Assistance with bags can be provided (using gloves/masks as required).

Your room key will have been sanitised and your room deep cleaned by us (wearing gloves and masks as required).  If not already paid, you will have the option to pay for your room using our sanitised card machine or if we have your card details we can use these for you and issue you with a receipt.

Hallway/staircases

Hand sanitizer is provided in the hallway.  Please use this when entering and leaving the B&B.  These public areas will be cleaned regularly.  Please continue to socially distance while in the B&B and try not to enter corridors with other guests (other than fire alarm).

Leaflets with information on local attractions are available in the hall.  If you take a leaflet please don’t replace it but keep it for your use.

Breakfast Preparation & Breakfast Room

Staff will wear protective gloves and masks as required when preparing food and handling cutlery and crockery.  All items will be washed in a dishwasher.

The breakfast room will be ventilated and will continue to be arranged to ensure some social distancing as required.  You will be asked to pre-order your breakfast.

Our policy is to ask guests not to eat hot take away food in their rooms.  At this time we will make the breakfast room available for guests in the evenings from 6.00-9.00pm for take away food.  Please use tables so you can practise some social distancing.   Disposable/recyclable plates, cutlery and plastic cups will be provided on the dresser (with room number displayed).  If you use these items please dispose of them in the bin next to the dresser.   Please dispose of any take away boxes/bags in the plastic tray next to the bin.

All walking books have been removed from the dining room.  If you need any information on walks let Liz know and she can give info.

Bedrooms

Hard surfaces in the rooms and en-suite bathrooms will be cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes/disinfectant.

Laundry items are either industrially washed or washed at high temperature.

Toiletries will be removed following room vacation for deep cleaning.  Toilet rolls will be removed.

All refreshment packages and mugs/glasses will be removed following room vacation.

All books have been removed from rooms and we have produced a welcome leaflet for you with key info and our usual ‘Walks from the door’ leaflet.  Please either dispose of these or take these away with you when leaving.

Rooms will not be serviced/tidied daily with the exception of longer stays eg over 2 nights.  We will ask you at breakfast if you need any toiletries/refreshment top-ups or cleaning/bins emptied.

Departure

Guests are asked to leave the room key in the door and to open a window to air the room.  If you are staying in room 5 only leave one velux window open slightly in case of rain.

Liz & Graham can help with moving luggage (wearing gloves/masks as required).

Finally …. Procedure for notification of COVID-19

We will be following any track and trace guidance in place – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works

If you experience any COVID symptoms please let us know immediately and if it is safe to do so then return to your home address.  If this is not possible then we will discuss with you next steps.
